This explains what we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, who else sees it and what you can ask us to do about it.

SF Mann Ltd is the data controller for the information described here. That means we decide what is collected and why, and we are responsible for looking after it.

What we collect and why
When you request a quote
The quote form asks for the following. Everything on it is used for one purpose: working out whether solar suits your property and getting back to you about it.
- Whether you own the property
- Property type (detached, semi-detached, terraced, bungalow, flat or commercial)
- What you are interested in (solar panels, battery storage, EV charger)
- Your full name
- Your address and postcode
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Anything else you choose to tell us in the optional message box
- Whether you ticked the optional box consenting to marketing contact
We ask for your address and postcode because roof orientation, shading and your local network operator all affect whether a system is worth fitting and what it would cost. We do not use any of it to build a profile of you, and we never sell it.
Our lawful basis is that the information is needed to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. If you ask us for a quote and then decide against it, we keep the enquiry for 12 months and then delete it. If we go on to do work for you, we keep the records for 6 years to meet our tax and accounting obligations.
If you tick the marketing box
The last step of the quote form has an optional tick box asking whether we can contact you about solar, battery storage and EV charging, including occasional offers. It is unticked by default and you do not have to tick it. We will answer your enquiry either way. Tick it and we may contact you by email, phone or text about those things.
Our lawful basis here is your consent, and you can withdraw it whenever you like: reply "stop" to a text, use the unsubscribe link in an email, tell us on the phone, or email info@sfmann.co.uk. Withdrawing it does not affect any work we are already doing for you.
When you call or email us
If you phone or email using the details on this site, we hold whatever you tell us for as long as it takes to deal with your enquiry, on the same basis as above.
When you browse the site
If, and only if, you accept optional cookies, we use Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand how people find and use the site: which pages get visited, how far down a page people scroll, whether a phone number or email address gets clicked, and whether a visit ended in a quote request. This is measured in aggregate. We do not use it to identify you personally, and analytics data is kept for 14 months.
Our lawful basis for this is your consent, which you give through the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time. Nothing is measured until you accept. The cookie policy lists every cookie involved.
Who else sees your information
We keep the list short on purpose. Your details are shared only with the services we need to run the business:
- Our enquiry handling system. Quote form submissions are delivered to us through an automation tool we run on hosted infrastructure, which passes the enquiry to our inbox.
- Email. Your enquiry lands in our business email so we can reply to it.
- Google Ireland Limited. Only if you accept optional cookies. Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads receive website usage data, not the contents of your quote form.
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to other installers, brokers or lead-generation companies. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where that happens it is covered by the safeguards required under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of what we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it
- Restrict or object to how we use it
- Transfer it to someone else
- Withdraw your consent to analytics and advertising cookies, at any time
Email info@sfmann.co.uk and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
Keeping it secure
This site is served over HTTPS, so anything you send through the quote form is encrypted in transit. Access to enquiries is limited to the people at SF Mann who need it to do the work.
Children
This site is aimed at property owners and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or why, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will ask for your consent again.
